For her take on the famous French influence Coco Chanel, check out her post The Gospel According to Coco Chanel.Jules @ Lovely Las Vegashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17390801998824965642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-535576012203288908.post-77650763914960813312009-08-03T21:28:00.000-07:002009-08-03T21:31:42.211-07:00Coco ChanelMy love onces tried to woe me with those double "C" Chanel earrings... you know the ones I am talking about, no? Yet, those shiny little pieces did not impress so I had him return them... They just weren't me, and at $495 a pair, why not just buy me a flight somewhere?

Still, despite turning my nose up towards those earrings, I still have an interest in Coco Chanel (and my love!)... Her impact on fashion is broad and longstanding; she's an icon, after all. So the movie, Coco Before Chanel, definitely has caught my eye. Especially since it features Audrey Tautou as Coco. I haven't yet seen it, but am looking forward to it... it the meantime I found this article from the UK to be a nice interlude.

Have you seen the movie? Do you own any Chanel pieces? (As for me... I was so close to with those earrings... but as of yet, still do not).Jules @ Lovely Las Vegashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17390801998824965642noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-535576012203288908.post-48840826457332868122009-05-28T15:07:00.000-07:002009-05-28T15:14:23.696-07:00French Fort LauderdaleOnly in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for a short while, I enjoyed Cuban cuisine (but of course!), American vegetarian creations, and also found two great spots for French-inspired food:

For savory crepes and other divine entrees --- La Bonne Crepe on Las Olas

For baguettes, beignets, croissants, and everything sweet --- Croissan'Time French Bakery

Bon Appetit!Jules @ Lovely Las Vegashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17390801998824965642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-535576012203288908.post-34236679427335213562009-05-15T15:39:00.000-07:002009-05-15T15:42:42.060-07:00French Movie: Mon Oncle<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=francophilefiles-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B00005A8TU&fc1=000000&IS2=1<1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=FFFFFF&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0">

This is a great "silent" movie - with very little words, this is a masterpiece of non-verbal communication, modern interior design, and comedy. It's always an adventure to see what DVDs are scattered on the shelf. Sometimes I come away with empty hands, but other days I find an interesting array of films.

My surprise-find this time was The Valet, a cute movie based in France. The storyline is sad in that it is based around a scandalous divorce, but the presentation of the subject is lighthearted and sweet in that the tale focuses on a unique relationship that develops between a young, slightly nerdy valet and a famous supermodel. The overall essence of the movie is hopeful and sweet despite the dark situation of relationship troubles that create the background to the focal aspects of this story.Jules @ Lovely Las Vegashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17390801998824965642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-535576012203288908.post-35090482098304320962009-04-21T12:49:00.000-07:002009-04-21T13:09:35.049-07:00Paris Las Vegas
Image credit: Jules @ The Francophile Files, Paris Las Vegas

Paris, France is the real deal, but when money is tight and the Las Vegas Strip is in sight, why not enjoy a little pseudo-Parisien pleasure at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino? I can't wait to go on a picnic.

Jules @ Lovely Las Vegashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17390801998824965642noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-535576012203288908.post-67747881098964580412009-01-25T06:00:00.000-08:002009-02-18T07:24:08.163-08:00Croissant Brioche French Bakery & CafeI discovered this delightful Houstonian bakery on a recent site-seeing roadtrip to Galveston, Texas. A yummy selection of sandwiches and sweets are candy for the eyes and nourishment for the stomach and the soul.
